Any registered member can submit the manuscripts and the corresponding author should be regular member of the Korean Environmental Sciences Society (hereinafter referred to as “KENSS”).
The manuscripts to be published in the Journal of Environmental Science International (hereinafter referred to as “the Journal") must be related to academic research fields of KENSS (environmental policy, environmental economy, natural environment, and environmental pollutions of air, water, soil, and waste). Furthermore, the paper must not have been previously published or is not under consideration for publication in any other journals (including magazines). If the submitted paper is abridged version or part of a dissertation, it must be specified at the bottom of the first page of the paper and undergo an examination process according to the regulations. In addition, authors of the paper must observe the research ethics regulations.
The Journal welcomes following forms of publication:
Original research results relevant to the scope of the journal will be published after editorial review. In full-length research articles, authors can describe new experimental or theoretical results of great importance.
Reports that include relevant analytical or treatment information, new experimental refinements of previous journal articles, etc. may be published as technical information with a brief working description, although they are not comprehensive enough for a full paper.
It can exchange opinions on the experience gained from environmental practices or simple research results. The format must follow the format of the original article.
Official reviews can be published by invitation or through direct submission. In either case, they will be peer-reviewed by three reviewers. Papers should include critical reviews of important areas of environmental science and engineering to inform readers about the research landscape, state-of-the-art technologies, and issues related to them.
Submitted papers that are selected for in-depth review are evaluated by at least two outside reviewers. After rounds of peer-review process, the editorial board of KENSS decides acceptance or rejection and the order of publication after deliberation. The editorial board examines the consistency of the manuscript with the title, suitability of the research content, the necessity of the research, the appropriateness of the hypothesis proving method, and agreement between the research results and the conclusions, and may request the author to make necessary corrections, supplement or delete parts of the manuscript. If the author does not submit the revised manuscript within 40 days, the manuscript will be deemed not to be published and the manuscript will be rejected. The rejected manuscript will be returned to the author along with a statement of reasons. However, if the revision of the manuscript takes longer than 40 days, the author must ask for the consent of the editorial board within the corresponding period. If the author wants to revise or resubmit the paper after this period, the author must submit it as a new paper. The submitted manuscripts should not be under simultaneous consideration by any other journal. The submission should be approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright-holder.
There is no limit to the length of manuscripts, but it is recommended not to exceed a total of 8,000 words. The manuscript should be written in A4 size, double spaced, with left and right margins of 25 mm, and the font should be 12 point.
The manuscript must be submitted on the homepage of the KENSS along with a checklist of compliance with the research ethics regulations and a submission card after editing the manuscript in a single column on the A4 paper size including the figures and tables. The examination fee (50,000 KRW(~38 USD) per paper, 200,000 KRW(~150USD) for accelerated paper) must be deposited to the account number specified on the submission card. When the submitted manuscript is approved first by the editorial board for compliance with the submission regulations and format, the committee will appoint a panel of judges and commission them for an examination. A submitted manuscript that does not comply with the regulations may be returned with a statement of reasons. If payment of the examination fee is confirmed, examination will be started.
